Teaching procedures
Step 1: Warming-up
1. Greetings.
2. Free talk about their weekend activities and ask them if they would like to know about our friends Bill and Andy’s weekend. Lead in today’s topic naturally.
Step 2: Pre-listening
1. In order to hear the story of our friends, student needs to find the key that hides behind the questions showing on the power points.
2. Invite students to come to the front to act the words out, others guess and write them on the board.
3. When finishing the game, show them the key and ask students to predict “what activities do they do on their weekends?”
Step 3: While-listening
1. Extensive listening
Read the passage for students and let them find the main character in the conversation.
Then invite one student to answer and write it on the board.
2. Intensive listening
Listen for the second time and ask them to match the activities with the right person.
Write down the target sentence “What do you do on the weekend?”. Then, focus their attention on the word “often”, explain that it shows the frequency with a calendar.
3. Ask students to read out loud to imitate the intonation and pronunciation.
Step 4: Post-listening
Activity: people hunt.
Divide students into different groups of fives with a chart for everyone. In this activity, students will be required to ask all their group members the target questions “What do you do on weekend?” and “How often do you do?”. When answered, write it down on the chart. Ten minutes is given, then, invite a group to share.
Step 5: Summary and Homework
Summary: encourage students to summarize today’s lesson. Giving firm compliments on what they have been putting time in and tell them how proud the teacher is of their persistence.
Homework: ask students to discuss the importance of developing a good habit with their parents.
